Biography

Anthony , was born on September 30, 1964 in Los Angeles where he spent the first year of his life before he returned to Paris , France with his parents French actors Alain and Nathalie Delon.

Upon returning to France , he attended the prestigious Ecole Active Bilingual school in French and English.

When his parents divorced at the age of four, he went to live with his mother, Natalie but also attributes his early upbringing and education to his godmother Loulou and his godfather, respected talent agent Georges Beaume.

At the age of ten, Anthony attended the strict Le Moncel military boarding school outside of Paris . Once, after he endured an unfair disciplinary action, Anthony decided to escape from the academy and walked over 20 miles home to Paris .

Four years later, when Anthony’s mother Nathalie left France for the United States , he decided to go and live with his father, iconic French film actor Alain Delon. When Anthony’s rebellous teenqge behavior became out of control, his father decided to enroll him in Charlemagne Institute, a strict Parisian high school. Refusing to be subdued, Anthony was subsequently expelled after only one year, forcing his father to enroll him in the even stricter boarding school, Joinville-le-Pont, in Val de Marne, France. A notorious higher security school , equipped with cameras on every floor.

It is here where Anthony finishes his formal education before setting off to London to accept his first job working with Island Records founder Chris Blackwell.

During Anthony’s employment at Island Records, he journeys on assignment to Nigeria to shoot a controversial documentary on Fela, the archetypal singer and insurgent to Nigeria’s brutal military dictatorship.

Upon returning to France in 1983, at the young age of eighteen, Anthony endures a serious run-in with the law. He is apprehended at the wheel of a stolen BMW, carrying an automatic pistol. He is jailed for one month in the harsh Bois d’Arcy prison.

Upon release from prison he decides to turn his life around for good and partners with an established business partner to design and sell luxury  leather jackets. Less than one year later , the growing business is doing so well he is acclaimed in the French press as the youngest successful business manager in France .

From the garment industry, the now 19 year old Delon expands his business interests to the burgeoning nightclub business in Paris .
Here he encounters a world of international celebrities, supermodels as well as a dangerous Parisian underworld . After the near fatal assassination attempt of one of his older business partners, Anthony decides to sell his interest in the night club and evade the intense media interest in his personal and professional life by relocating to New York .

He soon meets Andy Warhol, Diane Von Furstenberg, Brooke Shields among many other celebrities and comes to the attention of world renowned photographer Bruce Weber who utilizes Anthony & Brooke in well publicized reportage for Life Magazine . While in New York he then meets accompished Italian film director, Alberto Lattuada who offers him a screen test in Rome .

Anthony auditions and wins his first professional acting job, the starring role in Lattuada . His work leads to a co-starring role in ‘Chronical of a Death Foretold’, by award winning film director Francesco Rossi.
The film debuts as the opening film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival which Anthony attends with co-stars Rupert Everett and Ornella Muti. The film becomes a critical success in Latin America and Europe but is snubbed by critics in France . Despite acclaimed reviews for Anthony’s performance the press refuses to stop making unfair comparisons to his famous father who at this point of the 1980’s is at the apex of his film career.

After appearing in several more high profile films, Anthony returns to the United States where at age twenty four he settles down in Los Angeles for a year and a half in what he would later describe as a homecoming to the city and country of his birth. In Los Angeles, he studies acting but returns to France after a serious motorcycle accident.

Yet Anthony remained passionate about all motor sports. In 1993, he also became a professional race car driver. His first professional race occurred at Le Mans, France where he finished in the top ten in a
Barquettes 905 race car. In 1994, he raced in the Formula III French Championships. In 1996, Anthony raced in the Alfa Romeo French Championship. In 1997, he raced in the rigorous 24 hour Spa-Francorchamps race , and at the 24 hour Zolder race track- driving in a GT2 Lamborghini. All in all, racing five years of professional competition.

During this time, Anthony co-starred on stage touring throughout Europe with Isabelle Pasco in American Playwright Julian Green’ s acclaimed play, ‘South’ . He also co-starred in the commercial and critically received film ‘La Verite Si Je Mens’. In 1995, Anthony would meet and fall in love with Sophie Clereco , who would become the mother of his two daughters, Loup and Liv.

Currently, after an inauspicious childhood, Anthony is widely recognized as one of the most respected French actors of his generation. He enjoys commercial and critical success in television, film and theatrical projects, some co-produced through his production company, A. L. D.. When not pursuing professional projects and time with his family, Anthony is very involved in environmental activities and enjoys studying and pursuing the Buddhist philosophy of helping to instill peace, tolerance and respect for others. Anthony currently divides his personal and professional time between Los Angeles and Paris .
